I wonder if the last ten or something episodes of Death Note are any worth watching.

They really, really aren't.

It's a shame, because at the time I really thought the author was going somewhere, but after a certain central character kicks the bucket everything just goes to ****.

This is exactly that I heard from those who watched it all. To be fair, it started to go down after the introduction of second Kira and all that, although the first episodes were pretty interesting.

The other interesing thing is that watching anime makes me feel European.

Most of the people who tell you not to watch past L's death are the bishy l so kawaii fangurls.

N and M are fine characters. The rest of it is worth watching.

Except not. N and M are more fleshed out then L, yes, but they fail to work as well as a foil, and all of their participation in the story is cursory and poorly planned all the way to the end. The logic battles get muddied and full of huge leaps and plot holes, the actual plot loses all sense of pacing and turns into a bizarre methodical series of unexplained incidents and motivations that only come together half the time, and by the end M could have not existed for all he mattered, making the idea of dual L's a bust.

Only reason to watch is for the admittedly very satisfying/sometimes hilarious finale.

I don't think you understand what the word "fine" means.

I also don't think you understood what M and N were supposed to be, if you think the idea was to have two Ls

Two separate manifestations of two sides of him, yea. It's a neat idea that let the author kill off the primary foil without actually committing to changing up the conflict, and there's nothing wrong with that, but the writing actually fucking tanks at that point. I'm not drawing a line between L's death and the quality dropping, I'm drawing a line AT it.

falls apart in the 3rd act.

if you liked it so far for the scenes where people made dramatic faces you might like these episodes. if you liked the plot, dialogue, or pacing, you'll probably get turned off.
