So yes, because 2 is 0.5 times 4.

I'm not trolling.

It was an insult.

I was saying he isn't as clever as he thinks.

Why is this hard to comprehend.

Et tu? Can terrortortellini not even into maths?

Lookie here fuckers. As ches said before:

"If he were half, he'd be double what he really is.
Half of 2 is 1
What would you be if 1 is double what you are?
.5, obviously. "

Yeah, you got it here. Aaaand .5 of 1/4 of 2.

What I'm saying here is, if you were half as clever as you thought you were, this insult wouldn't have backfired half as badly had you tried to prove it mathematically.

Is this even english?

I think you're the only one who thinks there's something wrong here. I called him one fourth as clever as he thought he was, he responded by saying he never thought he was clever, I responded by reminding him that one fourth of zero is still zero, jokingly explained it with maths, and then you came in insisting there's some discrepancy here, when there clearly isn't.

I realize this thread has been dead for a while, but it seemed pretty cool, so I thought I would try to revive it by posting a story of my own.

Last November my family, (Me, my two younger sisters and my parents), went on a vacation up to Lake Placid where we stayed at the Whiteface Lodge. The hotel was beautiful, but I was really freaked out by something that happened the second night we were there. It was evening and we were eating dinner at the hotel restaurant. We sat at a table that was directly next to a window facing out into some woods. I finished dinner before the rest of my family, so I occupied my time by staring out the window and basking in that glorious feeling you get right after a really good meal. After a minute or so, I noticed something a bit strange about 100 yards off in the woods. It seemed almost like the silhouette of man standing next to a small tree and staring directly at the window. Not me in particular, just the window. So I did what I would naturally and tried to ignore it and instead struck up a conversation. By this point, we were all feeling a bit groggy, and were waiting for the check to come. My youngest sister, who is mildly autistic and was nine at the time, had been acting strange that night. Her behavior is always a bit strange, but it seemed different. Normally she is talkative and playful, but that night she was quiet and seemed spaced out, as if she was occupied elsewhere.

I kept glancing out the window occasionally, and as I did so, I noticed that my sister had been straightening up a little every so often, looking out the window in the same direction I was. I was getting pretty creeped out by this point, and wanted to just go back to the hotel room. Then my sister said something that scared the living bejeezus out of me. She turned to my dad and asked,

"Dad, is there a man in the woods?"

He gave her some general answer, and was obviously caught off guard by the question. He thought it had just come out of the blue, but I doubt it did, seeing as how she'd been staring out the window and acting vacant the entire meal. The figure stayed there, just staring, until we left the table to return to our room. We left the hotel the next day and didn't experience anything else out of the ordinary. I still have no idea who or what that figure was.

It wasn't really a math debate, unless he seriously was questioning how basic arithmetic works. It was more of a misunderstanding.

I will try to show both points of view to be mathematically sound.

x:float = 0 #Self-percieved cleverness
y:float = 0 #Real cleverness
t:boolean = null #indicator of fact or falsehood on ches's part
s:boolean = null #indicator of fact or falsehood on hobo's part

If (0.5*x == y)
{
If (2*y == y)
{
t = true
return t
}
If (
}

No screw this it was a stupid phrase to begin with and hobo just made it worse. LOGIC CANNOT SAVE YOU. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.

What kind of language is that and why is it not contained in an appropriate function.

or are you just using globals or some ****? For shame.

**** this, this isn't like my C++ at all.

yo let me show you how it's done.

#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>

using std::endl;
using std::cin;
using std::cout;

int clevercompare(int vaughnthinks, int vaughnis) {
vaughnthinks=vaughnthinks/2;
vaughnis=vaughnis*2;
if (vaughnthinks==vaughnis) {
cout << "If Vaughn were twice as clever as he really is, he'd be half as clever as he thinks he is!" << endl;
}
else {
cout << "Ches is wrong :<" << endl;
}
}

int main() {
int vaughnthinks;
int vaughnis;

cout << "Enter how clever Vaughn thinks he is: " << endl;
cin >> vaughnthinks;

cout << "Enter how clever Vaughn really is: " << endl;
cin >> vaughnis;

clevercompare(vaughnthinks,vaughnis);

return 0;
}

EDIT: oh no what did it do to my lovely indents

it's so ugly ;_;

To be honest I was sort of mixing as3 and python... none of my indents worked either and I gave up because of course something can't be twice itself unless it is zero.

Well jut found this thread at the right time. I have three occasions of wtf what was that. The first is the most recent. I was cleaning my room and got to my closet. It is a horrible mess but I needed to clean it. That's when I found it. I found a whinny the pooh bear lamp type statue (not sure how to spell it) anyway I found it in my closet. It was been with my family forever. It didn't bother me until I found it recently. I put in on the corner of my stairs facing a box. I go into my moms room to watch tv. Now no one had gone upstairs as I watched television. Well when I came out it was look directly at me facing my moms room and has been stemming to do that for the last five days.

The second time was with a stuffed animal of pookey the bear from Garfield, it was my sisters and at the time I was hiding it. I put behind the tv case in my moms room. My mom found out and called me over to go get it, so I did except it was on the tv case not behind but it turned out I be a different one but before I found that out I flipped out.

The last one was when I lived in California. We went into town one time for shopping. I went on This trip all the time. Except one day on the way there I looked at a street that was quite far away but I have good eyesight to a neighborhood and there was a one legged shaggy green colore man that seemed to be staring right at me. I never saw him again because I looke every time and still to this day I don't know if he was really or fake.
