Baby farming was a term used in late-Victorian Era Britain (and, less commonly, in Australia and the United States) to mean the taking in of an infant or child for payment; if the infant was young, this usually included wet-nursing (breast-feeding by a woman not the mother). Some baby farmers "adopted" children for lump-sum payments, while others cared for infants for periodic payments.

So, basically it was like modern foster care except with old-timey things like abuse and wha- oh wait, that still happens in modern foster care.

I love this picture. The person really just took whatever they thought looked right and went with it, if you ask me.

That "reconstruction" was completely unconvincing.

Well I guess I can post something related. I recently read a book entitled "The Manson file" which was basically a positive take on the case of Charles Manson.
You can read more about the book here

By positive take I mean that most books on this topic basically detract from serial killers or position them as 'evil' this one tried to find the good in this individual. They gave a pretty thorough portfolio of his art and music, and also of his philosophy (Charles Manson was pretty well versed in occult philosophy: He studied The Process church of final judgement, the teachings of scientology. He also read numerous books on psychoanalysis.) which the authors (The Schrecks - Also fun fact- Zeena Schreck is Laveys daughter, the Laveys (from the church of Satan) They also made a documentary about manson called "Charles Manson superstar"( a reference to Jesus christ supser star, since Charles manson repeatedly described himself as being similar to Jesus Christ, of course he meant it allegorically as in that he attained something that's known in the occult circles as 'christ consciousness')

Please allow me to type out some of Charles Mansons thoughts (directly from the book):
We as Americans have been thought to believe in Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. while I was free and out there Pursuing Happiness they took my Liberty and gave me Life! I was convicted of witchcraft in the Twentieth Century. .. and my case made the prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosi, filthy rich behind the book and film he wrote. Enough said.

And another one:

They been selling you a phone fake picture of reality all your life - Why should I let any of you touch where I'm at - I'm a hobo, I got names I ain't used yet.

All in all he had a lot of counter cultural thoughts. All in all I myself have to say that he was rather charismatic (He's one of the serial killers that created the myth of the "Genius serial killer" as he was very good at persuading people to do his bidding (He didn't commit most of the murders attributed to him - his followers did))

I think that's a start of an interesting discussion. What do you guys think about Charles Manson?

Manson said some pretty weird/deep ****. I think it's more of the sort of way that if you let a crazy guy babble long enough, he'll come up with something that sounds convincing, but I might be underestimating the guy. Then again, I might have never been born because of a certain bat-wielding minion of his, like I mentioned at the start of the thread, so I could be bearing him some unnecessarily personal grudge, heh.

Well the deep thoughts he had weren't really his own: All of it is in the occult lore, both satanic and what not. He just gave his own personal hippie-pagan-nature-loving spin of it.

Okay, Mass Murderer, but still a lot of people consider him a serial killer, and so he fits into this discussion.

I also have a cool comic called "My friend Dahmer" in which an artist recounts his personal experiences with this serial killer:)

Dahmer was an interesting guy, did you guys know he was drunk when he was a teen? And he also used to take animals into the woods and kill them and put their heads on spikes.

Not to sound unimpressed. But getting drunk as a teen is possibly the least unique character trait ever.

He drank a sixpack before class, like every day, and every often after school he used to pretend he had seizures in the local mall. Or he pretended to have allergies and was dying. He also pretended to have other disabilities.

I know like four friends of mine right off the top of my head who have done or still do similar things.

So they're either murderers-waiting-to-happen or they're just really immature assholes.
