It's so boring that they have to turn to serial killing.

Vaughn, that poses an interesting question.

Would someone in a small community ever commit grisly murders in order to unite the community against strangers, and thus, discourage gentrification?

How has no one mentioned John Wayne Gacy yet?!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wayne_Gacy

To add even more terror, he often dressed as a clown (and was allegedly very bad at it, according to less murderous clowns). He targeted teenage boys and young men, handcuffed them, raped them, killed them, and buried them in a crawl space in his house. He lived not far from my hometown.

Also, with so many mentions of Ted Bundy, I have to share my experience with some guy who is almost certainly a rapist and/or serial killer (probably both). I was leaving my house for work, and as I cross the street (which is ten feet from my front stoop) a youngish guy in a black pickup truck pulls up and smiles. I'm thinking "creepy guy, but harmless" and just kind of nod. He asks "hey do you need a ride," and I just ignore him and head to work. He proceeds to swerve around the neighborhood to cut me off two blocks away and again tries to get me into the car. It was super creepy and the whole situation was very much like Ted Bundy's tactics, but a bit more clumsy. I am seriously waiting to hear about bodies turning up in washes any day now because there is no way he's up to anything else.

Last week, my dad mentioned that when he was working in Port Aransas as a welder, he saw a guy at a car-wash scrubbing the hell out of the inside of his mini-van at 2 AM.

That guy turned out to be Stephen Morin, serial rapist and killer.

A bit of a third hand anecdote I'm afraid, but my grandmother apparently ran into one George Haigh in Derby back in the day. This was before he became famous for dissolving people in acid- something which may have coloured her later description of him, but by her account he was overly slick and not a little creepy.

That said, a friend's grandmother knew Klaus Barbie as a wonderful chap and a perfect gentleman.

That sounds significantly more interesting. The Butcher himself, a perfect gentleman?

Sociopaths are known to have impeccable manners and can be quite charming, because they tend to be extremely anti-social (which actually means they manipulate others socially instead of the connotation everybody usually associates with the word "anti-social", which is actually a-social).

Psychopaths are the ones who are known to usually not care about that sort of thing.

Exactly, Vaughn.

Ted Bundy was also a perfect gentleman. Sociopaths are expert con-artists, with extreme attention to detail, and a great deal of control whereas psychopaths are just that, psychotic and disorganized individuals who can cause a hell of a mess in one outburst.

sociopaths run the gamut. some are marvelous at acting the roles they need to to get what they want, be that rape and murder or a step up the corporate ladder. Others are simply completely detached from reality and incapable of integrating into society. they lack the ability to act and emulate. what they do have in common is that they are emotionally devoid of...everything save for a strong sense of self preservation in most cases.

will post more shortly, gotta take the dogs out

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Lee_Lucas wooh boy, what an upbringing. Despite the inflated body count, it's hard to argue against old Lucas being one of the most intensely fucked up human beings ever to have been born. his life story reads like a manual on how to make a serial killer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Barbosa
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Garavito
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_L%C3%B3pez_%28serial_killer%29 apparently in Columbia and around the Andes mountains, murdering children is a hobby, because holy fuck.

Bela Kiss murdered and tried to pickle at least 24 women, and dissapeared into the chaos of WWI.

It's the way stumble works for a quick share. It literally prevents you from getting the actual addy. At least on iPad
