I'm new here, so maybe you already have something like that in the works and I don't know about it, but I personally feel like you have enough stories now to make a Fairfield website.
If it's only on the forum, the fan base is basically forum dwellers.Having an website might give it a broader fan base and maybe attract more talented people to the project.Make it complete, with main character bios, FAQ, a link to the forum if they want to contribute with the project.Get some partners to advertise it (you advertise their stuff on the forum, they advertise the project on theirs)...

Also it could work as an review room. For example,In one of the stories the school is burned down, on another it's still standing. The stories could have those minor continuity problems solved before being submitted on the main website.

I might be completely wrong here, but that's my two cents.

It isn't a matter of number of stories. It's more a matter of direction, organization, time, and effort. We don't have much of that stuff. The first part is what I want to address with this contest / thread here.

The second is something we have a hard time with as there isn't exactly much collaboration going on. We've all just been basically doing our own things, throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks, and don't have an end goal in mind to work towards (see first issue).

As for time and effort, I don't have it in me to go the whole nine yards with a website and all that just yet, owing to the problem of this project not being up and running even after however long it has been going. We've got some good stuff, but we are far behind where we could be in terms of content and direction. If that were to change, I'd definitely consider it, but as it stands, I have other stuff I could be doing that is a bit more important.

P.S. That continuity error was fixed when I deleted my story (and the thread). I deleted a few of my stories that seemed like they could be pruned.

I've said I'd make one. I just need some sketches or something. I can do a cool 3D town map that you can move through becuase I have a month off right now.

Broseph has ideas.

First, I feel like the name change really needs to happen. "Fairfield" don't quite work. There's a place around my neck of the woods called "Locust Grove", which I guess could be creepidy, so that's just one possibility. Totally spitballin'.
Maybe set up some consistent characters, that take turns as protagonists/supporting characters. For example a newly moved in person, an average local, an investigator, local teens, an elder who may know more than they let on, etc.
A canonical, chronologically ordered story arc with each story progressing a story. Perhaps multiple story arcs going on at once, with multiple writing "teams" working on each arch. This would, however require a lot of writer-to-writer convo to stay on the same page and make sure the story arcs synced up. There would also, as the old ways, be plenty of old urban legends and strange happenings.
As for the “mysterious past” that was often alluded to but never really fleshed out, this is a definite spot to build upon. As the stories progress and cross, the truth about Fairfield/Locust Grove/Whateversville is sketchily and slowly pieced together, either through accidental bits of info that slip from those more knowing, or from pieces of info uncovered in whatever misadventures.

Yeah. That could be a thing that gets done.

And with Broseph's post, I think the number of contest entries is now two. I definitely like the interesting ideas so far, and it's good to see some discussion going on.

What about "Snug Harbor"?

I think the idea of being snug, and being harbored could be a nice contrast to the town being off.

Snug harbor sounds like an euphemism for a ******.

Then again there's an Ohio town called Knock 'em Stiff.
